Halloween Wreath DIY for Your Front Door | Dollar Store!

Crafts | Holiday | Home DIYs | Make it!

As the calendar creeps closer to Halloween, I’ve been busy buying pumpkins and slowly turning my home into a mini haunted house. This spectacularly spooky  DIY Halloween wreath for your front door uses dollar store items! It was an easy afternoon project that will add a festive feel to your front door without costing a ton.

Around the holidays, I love browsing the aisles of my local dollar store to try and find items that I can transform and up-cycle in creative ways.  My favorite find this Halloween was  the bag of plastic skulls that I used for this Halloween wreath project. I grabbed a couple bags and have already used them in multiple decorating projects. When painted, they make really fun Day of the Dead candle holders and planters. For this project I painted them silver but you can use any color you’d like.

What You’ll Need:

Start by spray-painting the foam wreath form black. If you notice in the video, I forgot this step and had to double back with my spray paint to fill in the gaps. (oops!)

Once that is dry, take your fabric flowers and use the wire stem to poke through the foam wreath base and pull the stem all the way through. Using wire cutters, cut back any extra stem length.

Next, spray the flowers with the black spray paint. On top of the black spray paint, layer some clear spray adhesive and some black glitter. Spray your skulls with metallic silver spray paint..

Once everything is dry, glue the skulls on the wreath and add a loop of black leather cording so that you can easily hang the wreath on your front door. To make sure that the skulls are secure, you can drill a small hole in the back of the skull and secure them to the wreath with wire.

By the way, I just may be developing an unhealthy addiction to the dollar store. There are just too many items there just waiting for a DIY makeover.

What are your go to dollar store buys?
