2 Ways to Make a Chunky DIY Statement Necklace
I’m not super big on wearing jewelry but I am a sucker for bold and colorful statement pieces. These two chunky necklaces are inexpensive to make and they both come together in a matter of minutes.
What you’ll need:
- Metallic ribbon 1-1.5 inches wide like this or this or this
- Plastic chain
- Large wooden beads
I’ve seen these oversized plastic chain necklaces popping up everywhere over the past few years. I love that it can be worn monochromatically for a more subtle look or it can act as a contrasting pop color. To make it, all you need is a plastic chain cut to the desired size and a piece of ribbon to tie it together. Easiest DIY ever!
The chunky beaded necklace is a bit more boho in style. It’s a casual look that can add an unexpected twist to your standard t-shirt and jeans.
To make this necklace, start with a ribbon than that’s about twice as long as your desired necklace length. Place the largest wooden bead at the center of the ribbon and tie a single knot on each end of it. Continue this action with the smaller beads until you have reached your desired length. Cut off any excess ribbon and it’s ready to wear.
