An Easy to Sew Bandana DIY That’s Safe for Your Pet
I have a lot of scrap pieces of fabric leftover from making face masks and I’ve been trying to figure out creative ways to use them. When I went to visit my feline-loving friend in Connecticut, she mentioned that she had a hard time finding pet bandanas that were safe for cats. She wanted a collar that would pull off easily if it got caught on something. I came up with this velcro design for an easy to sew bandana DIY that’s safe for your pet.. The best part is that it comes together in under 30 minutes.
Materials:
- Rotary Blade
- Cutting Mat
- Scrap Fabric
- Velcro
Steps | Easy to Sew Bandana That’s Safe for Your Pet
Using the triangle guide on your cutting mat and your rotary blade, double the fabric and cut a triangle that is approximately 5-5 1/2 inches at its longest point. Next, cut a strip of fabric that is 1-2 inches longer than your cat’s neck measurements. Turn both pieces right side in. Sew the two sides of the triangle leaving the longest part open. Sew the two long ends of the neckpiece together. Turn both pieces right side out.
Line up the triangle to the center of the neckpiece and sew down the length of the triangle. Fold the neckpiece over and sew the entire length of the neckpiece. Finally, cut two pieces of velcro and attach them to the ends using a square stitch.
You can also modify this design by eliminating the velcro and leaving the ends of the neck piece open. Then you can run a safe clip collar through the fabric and clip it on to your furry friend.
In 30 minutes or less, you’ll have a pet that’s both stylish and safe.
